I am wodering...If McDonalds will not hire fat actors for commercials (this seems to violate the truth in advertising priciple to me)--have they ever tactfully persuaded any overweight employees to seek employment elsewhere? Is there anyway to find out? Or do they figure that once they entice a person into the store the sale is a done deal? How can a civilization that can land men on the mone, create computers and cell phones be so damn ignorant when it comes to feeding themselves and taking care of their bodies? If a human body could be created and a persons mind installed in a new model they would cost millions. Yet we feed the one we got for free with 99 cent McCrap and run to the doctor hoping a pill can fix the damage we have done.

I like your thinking Dr. S. We have technology for TIVO on our TVs, computer games galore, microwaves to cook our junk fast. Then there is the technology that has done wonders to improve our lives. Yet, we still can't feed ourselves. That's great.

If you don't mind I may use that analogy tomorrow when I go to the meeting at school with the principle to get McDonalds coupons out of the school as an academic reward.

DrS and JoeMaggard are the same person turbo. Wake up.

How did your liberal rant go at your daughters school? Have you embarrased her sufficiently for your personal crusade?

Sure and below is another analogy which is even better. You may use anything that I post here. After all I am here to try to enlighten. But some remind me of throwing pearls away.

Fats and carbohydrates for the most part are fuels. Since the human body is efficient and is not designed to waste calories it is inclined to store excess calories as fat. We were never designed to eat as much as we do.

You can compare these fuel foods to gasoline in a car.
But in this case when the tank is full and more gasoline is poured in then extra fuel tanks are stuck around. This process can go on until some people top the scales at over 1000 pounds.

Anyway, if we just pour gasoline into a car and never add air to the tires, coolant to the radiator, oil to the crankcase, change the oil filter or replace wires and plugs etc. a car will start driving poorly and will wear out far sooner than it would with proper maintainance. Our bodies are the same way; cereals, breads, pastries, pizzza, hamburgers, chips etc may seem different becasue of consistency and flavopr but they are all comparable to gasoline by supplying fuel without any of the other needed components.

See Eva 1's mindless comment below. Isn't he/she funny/pathetic?

I like the way you think Doc...I think that sooner or later society will have to acknowledge the harm places like McDonald's are causing to us all. Sure, everybody has the right to eat that McCrap the rest of their lives if they like, but what everybody has to understand is that we all will suffer by paying higher and higher taxes to care for folks who have no health insurance and need care due to eating this horrible diet from places like McDonald's. McDonald's is ruled by the almighty dollar, and if people demand they change the cooking oil to a more healthy lower TFA(TransFattyAcid) oil, it will benefit everybody, not just the folks who eat there. Thanks for the post DocS, you've always been a great sorce of info for us all, and we appreciate it. ATB Joe

"FreeSpeech 1", "McMoney", and "Eva 1" are all names used by Mr. Deshan Woods. He is a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He has left hundreds of offensive messages on this website. It appears that he often does so using Air Force computers during Air Force work hours.

Spurlock has
1. made a movie using junk science and fooled otherwise intelligent people
2. Sensationalised the topic using many “set-ups” such as vomiting, libido problems, rectal exam, 15 frustrating calls to McD’s, and the stomach operation.
3. manipulated the facts for his own ends
4. Pretends that his movie was “all in a good cause”, but we know it’s all about lining his own pocket$.
The maker of “I Bet You Will” and SSM has not fooled me. He is not genuine in his cause to create a healthier society.
He is not genuine in his beliefs about being honest and living a healthy lifestyle. Here’s the proof:
1. He was not championing the cause for good eating before he made this movie, but created sensationalist garbage. In “I Bet You Will”, Morgan said “We bet a girl to let us shave her head into a Mohawk. We combined it with three sticks of butter and she ate her own hair in this giant butter hairball."
2. He was eating poorly before the movie (was stuffed on Thanksgiving day)
3. He was eating poorly during the movie (He knew that junk food was bad – so why do such a ridiculous act like eating crap 30 days straight?
4. He eats poorly after the movie (by his own admission – quote “there’s still nothing better than pork chops, ham and bacon. I just can’t resist the swine”)
5. He picked on a large company (easy target) and made it out as “the bad guy”, and this was the key to making the movie. All the other drama and events added to the entertainment – but were all contrived (puking, sex talk, calling McD’s exec’s 15 times, etc).

All this to sell tickets! THEREFORE – HE EXPLOITED AND MANIPULATED IN ORDER TO ENTERTAIN YOU….And now he continues to fool you. Does that make you feel good?

He exploits us by drawing attention to the poor quality of food offered by the fast food industry?

He exploits us by showing us how to improve our diets and our lives?

I don't understand your point.

This is in contrast to the exploitation that fast food companies subject us to.

Doc, trying to understand the point of these Mickey D supporters is useless.
They engage their keyboards before they engage their brains.
