man looses weight eating mc's aussie chick Dec 05, 09:33 PM [ Reply ]
here in australia a man ate from the healthy menu for 30 days, did some excersise and lost a considerable amount of weight. ppl need to take responsibility for what they eat and you don't have to be a rocket scientist to realise that eating crap everyday won't cause you to have health issues. If you eat fast food in moderation and also excersise and have a balanced diet then you will be fine....

hiya aussiechick...ok one question, ok? How would personal responsibility keep McDonald's from lying to the public and breaking their promise to change to a more healthy cooking oil?

Who cares if McDonalds lied about changing their oil. Cook at home, eat a better meal....no one is telling you to eat there!
re: man looses weight eating m aussie chick Dec 06, 05:25 AM [ Reply ]
they have changed their oil...well they have here in australia anyway! It really doesnt' matter if they had changed it or not because i'm sure most people would know that if they ate fried food cooked in any oil...it wouldn't be good for you! Once again it comes down to all things in moderation. I'm sure that if you ate healthy well balanced meals, then a serving of fries once in a while would not have a great deal of effect on your health. It is more that ppl can't stop themselves from eating crap all the time. i still don't think that having maccas once in a while would do you harm if you combined it with excercise and a well balanced diet.

WOW! Joe is getting bitch slapped over the repitive cooking oil argument.

They are right - Who cares if McDonalds lied about changing their oil. Cook at home, eat a better meal....no one is telling you to eat there!

re: man looses weight eating m aussie chick Dec 06, 03:50 PM [ Reply ]
you may think it's like "omg lets get fat" but really it's eat here once in a while, maybe for a treat once a month...if you bought fatty foods from the suppermarket went home, cooked it up, ate it all and then just watched tv all day and didn't do any excersise then i'm sure you would get fat. are ppl going to start to sue suppermakets aswell????

Somewhere, somewhen there will be people who will thank Joe for hanging on to this topic. For evil to exist it only takes that good men do nothing. As for you Eva 1,
keep eating those fries. And, if you ARE NOT eating those
fries then you are far more evil than you seem.

* What are the health effects of trans fats?

Concerns have been raised for several decades that consumption of trans fatty acids might have contributed to the 20th century epidemic of coronary heart disease.2

Metabolic studies have shown that trans fats have adverse effects on blood lipid levels--increasing LDL ("bad") cholesterol while decreasing HDL ("good") cholesterol. This combined effect on the ratio of LDL to HDL cholesterol is double that of saturated fatty acids.3

Trans fats have also been associated with an increased risk of coronary heart disease in epidemiologic studies.4

Based on the available metabolic studies, we estimated in a 1994 report that approximately 30,000 premature coronary heart disease deaths annually could be attributable to consumption of trans fatty acids.4

* What are the arguments for listing trans fat separately from saturated fat?

The combined results of metabolic and epidemiologic studies strongly support an adverse effect of trans fat on risk of CHD. Furthermore, two independent methods of estimation indicate that the adverse effect of trans fat is stronger than that of saturated fat. By our most conservative estimate, replacement of partially hydrogenated fat in the U.S. diet with natural unhydrogenated vegetable oils would prevent approximately 30,000 premature coronary deaths per year, and epidemiologic evidence suggests this number is closer to 100,0000 premature deaths annually. These reductions are higher than what could be achieved with realistic reductions in saturated fat intake.

We can't save them all but we can save the teachable ones.

The rest will be candidates for the Darwin Awards.

you don't need to post all these facts about oil and shit. everyone knows that eating fatty foods isn't good for you. it's simple really...if you don't want to eat there then don't! it's a free world and wheter you like it or not people have the right to choose what they eat. fast food places aren't forcing the food down your throat!
re: man looses weight eating m DrS Dec 06, 07:01 PM [ Reply ]
I will continue to post facts as I see fit, they obviously were not meant for you so you didn't need to read them.
re: man looses weight eating m aussie chick Dec 06, 08:19 PM [ Reply ]
if they weren't meant for me then why did you post them under my string of messages? why didn't you post your own topic instead of going off the track???
re: man looses weight eating m DrS Dec 06, 08:33 PM [ Reply ]
No one on this message board 'owns a string' that is why this is a forum of free discussion.

The message I posted was in reply to Eva 1 in defense of Joe's position of holding McDonalds accountable for lying about changingt their cooking oil. Since cooking oils is a 'fat' and McDonald's oil contains trans fats and trans fats have been found to cause up to 100,000 premature deaths in America annually I think my posting was 'on topic'. But I have not required anyone including you to read it.

noone was disputing that eating food fried in oil was bad for you! once again you are just stating common sense. The fact is that eating fried food once in a while would not do you harm especially if you ate healthy well balanced meals majority of the time. i am sorry that you though i owned a string...i know i don't..i just thought you were getting off the track
